Fun 4th of July Decor

I have tried to start doing a little something for most of the smaller holidays. I try to make things festive and fun for my little one. We don't get carried away, but she loves to help and it just makes the holiday seem to last and to be a bit more fun.

Here is a great 4th inspired, americana room from Pottery Barn.

I really do love this room. The different patterns in the rug and the pillows. That great rustic frame mirror against the blue wall and those huge glass jars. I know I wouldn't put this room together but it appeals to me. The bold colors almost become neutral they are done so well.

Do you decorate for the 4th of July holiday?

Fourth of July via Martha Stewart

I love the americana feel of the 4th of July and here are a few ideas to inspire you.

I love the bike all decorated. As my little lady is now riding a bike we might have to go out and find some fun, festive decorations.

I found these all on Martha Stewart.com.

What do you do for the 4th? Do you decorate or have a big family gathering?

We live away from all of our family and are usually home and on our own for the 4th of July. Our neighborhood holds a festive parade and pool bash that is always tons of fun. We usually decorate our little wagon and and walk in the parade. It's fun and has been a tradition of ours for the last five years. Then in the evening we usually grill out and then light our own, minor, fireworks at home; sparklers, snakes and smoke bombs maybe. We are in a drought here in Florida and most of the big fireworks shows have been cancelled, unless of course we get lots of rain. Here is hoping for lots of rain between now and the 4th.

Scenes from the Weekend

Our sweet party turned out perfectly. The setting could not have been better and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.

We held the party at a cute vintage candy shop. What could be more perfect for a little one turning six.

Where did the time go?

She is a lovely little girl both inside and out. She is funny, smart and shines like nothing I have ever seen.

God brought this little life into this world and I am so proud that he has allowed me to be here mommy.

Happy Birthday to my sweet daughter. May year 6 be as much fun as the last five have been.

We have had a special day so far and have her candy themed party coming this afternoon. A day full of fun!

I will share lots of pictures of her sweet party next week.

Yummy Cake Cookies with Sprinkles

I found this fun and delicious recipe on Vanessachristenson.com. We decided to try it out and boy did they not disappoint.

The best part is they are super easy, you make them from a white cake mix, they are the perfect cookie for your little one's to help make.

They taste like little white cakes packaged in an easy to eat cookie.

YUM!!

They are quick and easy to make.
Enjoy!

Scenes from the Weekend

Hello Monday. What a wonderful weekend. Did you have a good weekend?

We have family visiting this weekend, my husbands brother and his daughter. It was nice that they got to spend father's day together with their girls. We had a great time spending the day at the beach and our favorite crab shack. We are planning for a busy week, visiting Disney World and my little lady's 6th Birthday Party.

I love that the girls get to spend time together making these memories. They are close in age and both only children so it's like having a sister for each of them. They only get to see each other a few times a year, they're from Arizona, but when they are together they have an unspoken bond. Very sweet!

This is one of our favorite places. It's rustic, sits right on the water, and is perfect for wearing your swimsuits coming right off of the beach. The guys were crackin' crabs and showing the girls their skills. It's a beautiful setting that I can't get enough of. And some times you will even catch dolphins swimming by. It's the perfect "off the beaten path" restaurant.

Great time. Great food. Great atmosphere.

It was a great way to start off our fun week.

Birthday Party Planning

I am planning my little lady's 6th birthday party. How did THAT happen?

I am copping out this year. I LOVE to plan a party. I do!! I love the planning, the details, the theme, the crafts, the EVERYTHING!!! What I don't love is having 10-15 little life's running through my, not really child proofed, house. Have I mentioned that it is hot here? Well, it's too hot for a party outside and I'm just not prepared to have my home trampled. Last year we had a nice outdoor farm themed party and after about 2 hours people, the kids, were begging to come inside. It took all of five minutes and my home was turned up side down.

So....

We are planning a candy themed party at an adorable, vintage, candy shop! It's going to be adorable. The backdrop will be girly and fun. The activities are all taken care of. All we have to do is be there and well, of course, I'm baking the cake. I just couldn't pass that baton on.

If I were planning a party at home here are some things that I love

I love that they all look so great and not expensive to make.
