Scenes from the weekend

Welcome to the week!
How was your weekend? Enjoy the holiday? God Bless the men and women who have served our country!!

We had a great weekend. We spent Friday evening at the beach celebrating a little ones 6th birthday. It's so nice at the beach in the evening. Then Sunday we spent the morning at a CROWDED beach, guess a lot of other people had our same idea, then a quiet evening at home with a BBQ and my little family.

We are off to spend our "first" day of summer break at Disney's Magic Kingdom!

Outdoor lighting project

I love this lighting idea and what a fun project. I think it would be super easy to do and it creates great lighting for a dinner party.

I even think these would be cute incorporated with it. Mix it up, the more differences the better.

What I Wore Wednesday

I don't have a What I Wore Wednesday post today, not of me in outfits that is. I have been busy with camping, and swimming everyday since last Wednesday. No time for dressing, er except in my swim suit. I am not posting those pictures but here are some swimsuits that I wish I were wearing.

The first one may be my favorite but I love them all.

Dressing on the Side

I found this cute T-Shirt shop on Etsy. I love cute T-shirts and it's fun to find some on line that no one else has, well, except of all of you now. The site is called Dressing On The Side. Click on the title above to head to this cute shop.

These are a few of my favorites. I am all about cupcakes these days, eating and baking!

Scenes from the weekend...

Hello Monday. Hello Everyone!

We had a great weekend though very busy. My little lady and I spent our first day camping together. Yes, I said "day". We did a day camp with her Daisy troop. It was a long, hot day but loads of fun. We participated in a scavenger hunt, did a little lesson on water and the environment, did some crafts, ate taco's in a bag (you crunch up a small bag of Frito's and put all of your taco toppings in the bag and eat away - cute and great for food on the go), then we had a great campfire, roasted marshmallows, and made smore's. The best part was that we drove back home and slept in our own beds.

It's a crazy busy week around here. It's the last week of school and I have tons of baking orders this week. I'll be knee deep in a pool or in sugar!

I hope you have a great week.

Fashion Friday

It's Friday and I am excited. Off to swim lessons with my little lady and ready for family dinner out tonight. I love Fridays.

I love this look and picture from Anthroplogie. I can't exactly put my finger on it but for some reason I am drawn to it. Maybe it's my love of the idea of Tuscany or the wine country in California.

I like the easiness of the look and the back drop is quite pretty. She looks effortlessly chic, comfortable and casual. I even like the tennis shoes with the look.

Do you have big plans for the weekend? We are heading out to our first Girl Scout camping adventure. My little lady is only a Daisy so we will be spending just the day "camping". We are both pretty excited. Well, she is mostly, I'm not much for the outdoors, especially after pulling a tick off of my poor dog yesterday. What do the wood have in store for me? HA!

I hope you have a great weekend.

Flea Market Challenge

Yesterday was our local flea market and it was my last hoorah before the end of school, it just gets too hot here in the summer.
I was very excited to be there, the weather was beautiful- a nice and cool morning.

I decided to challenge myself on this trip. I watch The Nate Berkus show and he has had a recurring guest who calls himself Mr. Goodwill Hunting. Great name right? He also writes a blog of the same name. He is a thrift-ing junky and has started an interior decorating business based on finding things at thrift stores and decorating on a budget. I thought to myself "I could so do that". So, yesterday I went on the hunt to find items to decorate a room with. Move over Goodwill Hunting......

Here are my finds......

These glass nesting tables are great. With a little paint on the metal framing they would be so nice.

I LOVED this painting. It's a bit hard to see it with the sun glare. I love the scale of it, the birds, and the colors.

This desk was gorgeous, and SOLD! It looks like it matches a piece I just bought. I love the character that the weathering gives it.

I love to find great lamps. I love the colors in this one. I would change out the shade but the base is perfect. And would look great sitting on those glass tables in a vignette with that great picture.

Now this last picture is a keeper, it came home with me and it was the deal of the day. I scored this 8 x 10 wool rug for $15.00. It needs a good cleaning but will be PERFECT for my dining room.

All of these things are great right? They would make a great room. Add to a neutral couch in a living room or an upholstered headboard in a bedroom.

All in all a good day and the total of all of these items were under $150.00! Now that is some great hunting.

Have a great day

p.s. I decided to take the music off of my blog. What do you think, do you like or despise music on blogs?

What I Wore Wednesday

Hi everyone. Welcome to Wednesday and my What I Wore Wednesday post. I am linking up with Lindsay at the Pleated Poppy.

This week I only have one picture. Only one day that I actually dressed in an outfit. I have found that doing these posts have caused two things:

First, I am more aware that I am a jeans and top kind of girl. I'm not great with accessorizing. I often look at myself and feel over done when I have too many accessories.

Second, I want to shop more than I should. I now want to create outfits. My normal choices wouldn't warrant posting on the What I Wore Wednesday post. They are kind of same ole same ole.

I do feel better about myself when I put a bit more effort in to it, though it is tougher than I thought to get inspired everyday to put something together. Especially when you live in Florida, in a very laid back community, where shorts-tanks-and flip flops are a uniform worn by everyone. I often feel I'm trying too hard, but it's a personal decision right?
Top - Target
Jeans- Hillfiger skinnies
Shoes - Old Navy
Bracelet & Necklace - Thrift-ed today for a $1.00 each (I also bought a black bangle.)

And here is something I am debating on wearing. I am in a one piece kind of mode. Just not feeling a two piece this year, most days anyways. I found this really cute one piece, I love it actually, though on it makes me look a little curvy. A body type like Marilyn Monroe. I'm a bit petite, and not in as great of shape as I should be and I wonder if I look ok in this suit. I think it would look best on someone Tall and Thinner, but I bought a small and it fits. Should I just throw caution to the wind? I just love the look of it and wonder when you should stop worrying about how you look and just go for it! I am ok with how it looks in the mirror, but in pictures, hmmmm, curvy!!!

Here is a thought....I often wonder about age appropriate dressing. Do you feel that there are things that you shouldn't wear once you hit a certain age? Do you ever see someone that is a bit older wearing a trend that is too young?

Have a great Wednesday.

beautiful dining rooms via Greige Design Blogspot

I love everything about both of these rooms. EVERYTHING!!!! I love a neutral palette, casual chic, slipcovered chairs, gallery wall of pictures, wainscoting, the settee seating! Just perfect.

Ya know, I love to watch decorating shows, Nate Berkus, you name it. I read decorating magazines and on line e-zines. I love the glam look with lots of reflective surfaces, mirrors, chandeliers, mixing brass and silver, painted furniture and lots of color, but I am honestly drawn to a neutral decor. I like beach-y or coastal, but subtle, not screaming sea shells on the walls. I figure just go with what comes natural to you and you'll love your home.

What is not to love about these rooms, I am ready to move in.

Scenes from the weekend...

Wow, what a busy busy weekend and start to the week. It seems these last two weeks of school are going to be the busiest yet.

We had a great weekend though, we enjoyed a beautiful weekend of weather and took advantage of it by spending Saturday at Disney's Hollywood Studios and then Sunday afternoon at the beach. We had surprisingly mild temperatures so we wanted to be sure we got in a lot of outdoor time.

We are working on our candy themed party for my little lady this year and all of these would be perfect.

What I Wore Wednesday

Hi. It's Wednesday and I am posting my week of outfits, or close to a week, and linking up with Lindsay at the Pleated Poppy along with lot's of other ladies. Check out her blog and the other ladies blogs for some great fashion inspiration.

Sort of a hippie look
Dress - local boutique

Simple white shirt style
Top - Old Navy
Jeans - Hilfiger skinnies
shoes - Target

I added this cute flower pin to add something to it...
Flower - I don't remember
Star Necklace - Lisa Leonard

New dress for Easter - I think it would be cute with a pair of white tennies, Chuck Taylor style, casual beach chic
Dress - Target

This is looking a little "fall-ish" for hot Florida in Spring
White top - Target
Jeans - Loft
Sweater - Target
Sandals - Payless

Top - TJ Maxx
Shorts - Kohl's
Hat - Anthropologie
Toms - Thrift-ed gift from friend

Love my stripes - and doing some "color blocking"
Top - TJ Maxx
Jeans - Hilfiger skinnies
Shoes - Target

What do you think of these shoes. They were headed for the yard sale we had last weekend and I plucked them back up before they sold. I tend to do that. I go through my closet and purge, then when I see someone looking to buy something, I tend to regret the decision and hope that they don't buy the item. So what do you think, were they worth salvaging, or should they head off to charity?

Have a great day ladies.

Great outdoor spaces

How was your weekend? I hope you had a wonderful Mothers Day. We enjoyed the weekend and it was a busy one. On Saturday we had our neighborhood semi-annual yard sale, a birthday party and the Kentucky Derby. We didn't have a party for the derby, just a small family affair, just the three of us. We had decorations and great food! It's always fun to just enjoy the tradition. Then Sunday we had a wonderful Mother's Day. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at the restaurant we have had brunch each year for Mother's Day, then some quiet time at home. Just perfect!! The weather was beautiful, a perfect spring day!

With spring, comes time outdoors. And what better way to spend some relaxing time than out on a front porch, or back, with a big glass of sweet tea. Can you tell that I'm from the south?

Here are some beautiful porches......

Here are a few pictures of my back and front porches....

I'm not a great photographer, but you get the idea. I love both of these spaces.

Have a great Monday.
