Allora Handmade Necklaces

I am really starting to love statement piece jewelry which is very surprising since I never use to like to wear jewelry aside from a simple pair of earrings and a simple necklace. Anyhow, I started with a necklace I posted about here and I have recently discovered these necklaces from Allora Handmade. I love pieces that dress up simple t-shirts and jeans especially. I love that simple casual look but like to dress it up a bit now that I'm getting older.

The pieces are made ready to ship so if you don't see what you want, if a color choice is sold out, then check back the next week for the color that you like. I know I want one of these, maybe for Mother's Day, but not sure of the color I'm going to choose.

Be sure to check them out here.

What I Wore Wednesday & a great find

Hi. It's Wednesday and I am linking up with Lindsay, and a slew of fashionable ladies, at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday.

This is my look for everyday; errand running, volunteering at school, baking for customers. I do get dressed up when we are out and about for the weekend, going out to dinner, and lunching with friends, etc. I usually forget to take pictures these days since we are trying to get out of the house. They would be fun to share too.

Scenes from the weekend

This weekend marks the kick off to Mardi Gras and every year our town puts on Mardi Gras Dog Parade. It is the event of the year in my view. There are about 70,000 people that attend and this year is seemed to be even bigger. I'm not sure how many years they have done it, we have gone the last four years and each year it has grown. This year after the parade there was a huge street fair with music, food, games, and lots of dog vendors. Everyone comes out with their dogs. Some even dressed for the event. It's such a fun time!

Here are a few pictures of the highlights of the parade. Lots of dogs, lots of costumes, bands, floats, and throwing beads. What else can you ask for in a Mardi Gras Parade.

Have a great week.

My Friend is Sad

This book keeps coming to mind today.

I am sad for my new friend whose baby is in the hospital awaiting brain surgery on Friday. The prognosis looks good, they thought she had a brain tumor, but have diagnosed it as a cyst. She is only 19 months old, she is sweet, always has a smile, and I have spent every morning and afternoon hanging out with her since the school year started. Her older sister is in my daughters first grade class so we have gotten to know them well this year. Her name is Sammi. Please pray for her!! Please pray for the doctors that are taking care of her, please pray for a quick recovery, please pray for the family for all that they are going through right now, please pray that her daddy makes it home safely to her, and his family, as he travels home. Please Pray!!

I was up a lot last night thinking about them and praying for them. I thought about how precious life is!! It's easy to get hung up on the every day things in life and the things that get you down. I am thankful for my health and the health of my family. I am thankful that we are together. I am thankful that I have my daughter and husband in my life.

Life changes and it's hard but today I am remembering how lucky I am!

Scenes from the weekend

What a fun and busy weekend we had. We kicked off our Valentine celebration this weekend.

Hubby and I had a date night for "our" valentines on Friday while little one was at a "faux" sleepover.
We started Saturday off with a heart shaped donut with heart shaped sprinkles. Who doesn't need a heart shaped donut for valentines day. We went to see a local product of Pinkalicious which was perfectly fitting for the holiday. I baked lots of cookies for valentines orders and woke up this morning to frost on my windows. A great weekend all together!!!

a yummy way to start the holiday weekend...

PINKALICIOUS!!!!!

We had a great time at the show.

What I Wore Wednesday

It's Wednesday and it's time again for What I Wore Wednesday. I'm not linking this week with Lindsay at the Pleated Poppy, she is out of the country and not posting this week. Be sure to check out her blog next week for some great inspiration.

I'm not a big fashionista, occasionally I will post about clothes that I see in stores, on Pinterest, or other blogs - looks that I like- but it's hard each day to try and put things together. I sometimes change clothes multiple times before I get just the right look. Always in the back of my mind, What I Wore Wednesday and all of the great looks that I see out there. Sometimes I think, Who am I getting dressed up for?

I struggle with putting together the right outfit for the occasion. And it's the times when it's not even an occasion, but a play date, running errands, or dropping my daughter to school that I struggle with. The "nothing to get dressed up for" days. I tend to wear a lot of different tees, jeans, and flats which makes these posts not very exciting.

My thought process goes something like this- will it look good in pictures...does it coordinate with my family...will I be over dressed...will I be under dressed, and after 2,3, or 4 changes we'll have the outfit of choice. Sometimes it will be the first outfit I tried. Frustrating. Thank goodness my husband is very patient. Now, this isn't everyday, but too many days.

Here is this weeks outfit to share, Classic, Simple, and Casual, once again it's jeans and a tee -who doesn't love jeans and a tee?

Tee - Target
Jeans - TJ Maxx
Flats - Old
Necklace - Simply Livly (my favorite thing about this outfit)

Have a great Wednesday.

Happy Monday and DIY Rope Bracelet

Happy Monday. I did a little shopping today, tried to hit some Jason Wu but the Target closest to me didn't carry the line and when I hit the Target that was carrying it, there was nothing left. UGH! I didn't make it yesterday and was quite surprised that it did this well here. Oh well. I'm sort of relieved. I'm not sure the the line was my style but I'm sure I would have come home with something just because of the frenzy.

I did hit Old Navy and found some great nautical inspired items. It's already warm here and I am feeling a bit nautical already in the season. I was happy with my purchases and then I found this lovely bracelet. It will go perfectly with my new purchases. It might even dress up my striped tees, boyfriend jeans and beach-y new sweater. It looks easy to do too.

So nautical. I might even make one with a natural rope. So cute.

I found it here

I am definitely going to make this and am so excited. I just love anything nautical and this will be a perfect accessory for the spring.
