Toms Shoes

These shoes are all the rage. They are all over the blogs, celebrity magazines, on TV and they were featured in Coastal Living Magazine. I'm not quite sure if I am into the style, I love my Chuck Taylor's, but I love what they are about.

For every pair of Toms shoes purchased, they will donate a new pair of shoes to a child in need. Now that is a brand and style I can get behind. Plus, they have a beachy vibe to them. They come in mens, womens and Tiny Toms for kids. Some cute things.

What do you think?

I saw these boots on the cutest little girl on Hilton Head, she had such a cool vibe. She had yellow boots, shorts, red framed glasses and cute braids. I wish I had my camera as I would have loved to take her picture. Anyhow, she was wearing these boots in yellow. I had to ask where she got them and to my luck she bought them on the island. We went on the hunt. I was in the rain boot mood since we woke up that morning and it was raining. Unfortunately, they didn't have them in women sizes but I bought these for my little girl. I think they would look adorable with crop jeans, cute dresses and skirts. I just love the bright Crayloa colors. They are by Gotta Flurt. They lace up front but zip up the side. You can put them on either way. Great for the littles that they zip up.

(Modeled by my little lady)

I wasn't able to find the same pair on line, but I found these cute adult style boots by Gotta Flurt on Overstock.com for $24.99. They aren't the same style, these have a cute buckle clasp, but a fun look.

While we are on shoes, did you know that Project Runway winner Christian Siriano has a line at Payless. Here is a peak at some of his looks. Rain boots, since I'm on that theme, are only $44.99. And these sandals, the same price, are really stunning.

You can find great style anywhere.

Weekend recap and Goals

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I had a wonderful time on a little mini getaway with my family. No matter when I go, Hilton Head is always magical. The weather was incredibly mild, especially compared to the hot, humid, days we have been experiencing here in Florida. It was FANTASTIC.

We especially enjoyed a day at the beach. The surf was up due to the hurricane activity that is brewing out in the Atlantic, but for those wanting to roll in the waves, it was perfect. The sun was shining, the wind was blowing, the air was mild, the waves were rolling and the spirits were flowing. A perfect day.

Here are a few pics to capture the mood of our visit.

GOALS
While relaxing on the beach I had time to ponder about things I would like to accomplish. I now have loads of time on my hands. I do have a few "irons in the fire" that I will announce at a later date, but here are a few goals that I have set for myself. I would like to get a lot of these done before the end of the year. I figure if I put them in writing and out there on this wide web, I will have to follow through.

Start an online Etsy store
Take an e-course on blogging
Make one new recipe each week
Take an embroidery class and learn to use my machine to it's potential
Start sewing projects again
Start Yoga
Take a photography class
Maybe get a new hairstyle
Take a cake decorating class

I've decided I don't just have one thing I want to concentrate on. I want to be a jack of all things creative. There are so many things that I love to do that it's hard to put anything aside and concentrate on one. I am going to try to put lots of fires out there and see what happens. I have a wonderful husband that is allowing me the time to explore all of these interests and to gain some expertise so that I may one day (soon) bring some income in. Wish me luck because I hope it's through one of these outlets. Hey Martha move over!

Have a great Monday. See ya tomorrow.

Things I like

Just a few items that I have seen recently that I really like. And they are some what affordable.

I love the simplicity of this round back chair from West Elm. I think the white would look great paired with a rustic dark wood farm style table. The contrast of style and color would make a great look. They are on sale right now for $129.99. Not bad!

I am thinking about getting this shelf. I love the openness of it, yet it's sturdy enough to hold somethings of weight like photo albums. We rearranged some furniture recently, moved little ones craft table to her bedroom and opened up a whole wall. Now what to do. This would be perfect.

Upholstered headboards are all the rage right now. Here are two that are great looking and great priced. The first one is from West Elm and is just a head board for $319.00 which isn't too bad. The second one is from World Market. I've seen it in person and it's really great. It is on sale right, also, for $319.00. Makes me wish I were redecorating my bedroom!

I really like this etagere from World Market. It is wood and metal and looks a bit vintage. It would certainly go in any decor, but I like the idea of a vintage feel. Hey it might just work in place of the one above from West Elm. Will have to check it out.

These cubes are great fun. They are cute and are great for extra seating. The first one is from World Market and is $39.99 and the second one is from West Elm and is priced, I believe, at $99.99

Have a great Thursday. The weekend is only a day away!

The R House on Etsy

I was looking around Etsy for some inspiration and came across, what is now one of my favorite Etsy stores, The R House.

The R House is comprised of three friends who were brought together through adoption. A subject that is near and dear to my heart. They also have a blog, TheRHouse.Blogspot.com.

Lindsay, Kim and Leisha make all of the jewelry and have just been nominated for the 2010 StartUpNation Leading Moms in Business. I love this jewelry, the simplicity of it, they're beautiful, and they are the kind of pieces that you can wear everyday.

Congratulations to the R House for their exciting nomination. Be sure to check out their shop on Etsy for these great pieces and more.

Have a great day, maybe I'm getting my blog groove back. :)

Lacking on inspiration

I am having an issue with outside inspiration this week, I think it's the lack of caffeine, but am always inspired by my little lady.

The pictures aren't great, couldn't get the movement in focus, I so need a photography class which will be on a "goals" list coming soon, but she was dancing so carefree and sweet, you'll get the idea. A beautiful sight ~!

Happy Wednesday!

Things I am loving from Restoration Hardware

I am loving some of the new vintage items from Restoration Hardware! I love the vintage look and want to incorporate some of these items in to my decor. I love the look of these items and love the hunt. I search flea markets, on-line stores and garage sales to find like items with not quite the price tag. It's all about the hunt. These items are all great for inspiration! Where do you find your inspiration?

Have a great weekend and if you see a yard sale, stop in, you just may find that diamond in the rough!
