What I Wore Wednesday

This week I have three outfits that I have to share. Pretty simple. I have found that getting dressed is easier now that I have purged my closet. Not as much guess work. I like how everything that is left fits and looks on me.

It is still HOT here and I'm still wearing my summer favorites. I am a tad bit jealous of some of the blogs that I follow showing off their pre-fall looks with boots and dresses and sweaters. Just a bit though!

Posture please!
Top - TJ Maxx
Jeans - Target
Necklace - Lisa Leonard "star" necklace

Top - Boutique at the beach
Jeans - Loft
Cardi - Target
Flip Flops - Old Navy

Shirt over dress
Shirt - H&M
Dress - Target
Flip Flops - Old Navy
I like this look. Wearing the shirt I felt was a great alternative to a card or jacket.

New Light Fixture

We had been tossing around the idea of a new light fixture for my breakfast nook and we finally did it.

We found this great fixture at CB2. It's industrial yet still has a beach-y vibe to it. It really makes the room look completely different. It's pretty large and makes a great statement in the room. I have to say, I LOVE it!

Scenes from the weakend

We spent the weekend at Disney Worlds Grand Floridian Resort. My hubby had a conference this weekend and we were lucky enough to make it a family weekend.

It is a beautiful place! Enjoy the pictures. A little look into the magical wonder that is Disney!

For a day and a half we did not leave the grounds of the resort.

On Friday, while we waited for hubby to arrive from NJ, my little lady enjoyed the pool and then we had a mommy/daughter special dinner.

On Saturday, hubby arrived, thankfully.

After a delicious breakfast we spent the late morning and early afternoon by the pool

before our time was shortened by a thunderstorm.

We decided to take advantage of the rain and headed off to lunch.

We also explored the resort

and when we decided we had had enough we decided to play cards on one of the outdoor patio areas that was shielded from the rain. It was amazingly very soothing.

After three rounds of Go Fish the rain subsided. It was breezy, cloudy, and cooler. We decided to take advantage of the hot tub. Who gets to do that in the middle of a Florida summer? The temperature dropped about 15 degrees and it was sure bliss for me. The ducks even decided to take up their swim in one of the swimming pools.

That night we had a wonderful dinner at one of the restaurants on property, Narcoosee's.

There is a huge wrap around porch that is perfect for firework viewing.

The resort sits just across the lagoon from Magic Kingdom which has a fireworks show most nights, however, our little lady didn't make it through dinner. All that swimming wore her out. We ended up having to carry her back to the room.

The next day, my husband had to work, so I took my little girl to the opening ceremonies of Magic Kingdom.

I don't know how you feel about Disney, but for me, there is something that just pulls at me. I just love it. I'm not a Disney fanatic, I don't have decorative items in my home or a Disney wardrobe, but when I am there I am taken in.

It was magical.

Our main goal for Magic Kingdom was to get to see Rapunzel.

She is the hardest princess to see.

The lines are long and can take a good part of your day. Luckily we made it for her first "showing".

My little princess could not have been more thrilled.

We were then off to our next favorite, Splash Mountain. So we headed to Frontierland.

As we were making our way to the other side of the park I could not help but take notice of the mild crowd. And that is putting it mildly. The pictures that we took at the park were around 10:15 in the morning. I have never seen the park this empty. I don't know if it was due to the storm holding people off from coming, or what, but it was incredible.

The cast members were even dancing a jig from the low crowd, or that is what I imagined it was from.

We saw lots of characters, that we normally wouldn't see, just walking through the park.

We walked right on to Splash Mountain, which is unheard of.

We then hustled back to Fantasyland to ride our next favorite, Dumbo, and It's a Small World. We were in the park for two hours and were able to enjoy four attractions that would normally would have taken us half a day.

It was a great weekend. A great way to cap off our summer.

Decorate

Holly Becker, who authors the blog decor8, has just released a new book called Decorate, 1000 ideas for every room in your house. She is on a book tour across the United States and I am hoping that she is coming somewhere close. Well, I just checked her schedule and nope not coming down to Florida. Dang it, why don't I live in a major metropolitan area, San Francisco or New York anyone.

She is an incredibly talented lady and hers was the first blog that I started to follow. I even took her on line course, Blogging Your Way. She started one of the first, if not THE first, blog about decorating. She truly has amazing style and talent. You should check out her blog and her book which is on sale everywhere and here.

This book is on the top of my wish list. I"m holding out buying it as my birthday is just around the corner, hint hint.

Have a great Monday!!

Somewhere between summer and fall

This picture epitomizes how I am feeling. Somewhere between summer and fall. I love the beach towels hanging symbolizing summer and the fall leaves and the boots on the ground, even the dog looks like it's part of fall.

Now that school has started I am ready for fall, I love fall, but I will hang on to summer for one last weekend. We are off to Disney for the weekend for one last summer hurrah! We will swim, ride and see some Disney friends then I will be in a fall mindset.

Out with the summer clothes and in to fall-ish looks, ready for mums, excited about pumpkin patches and my favorite colors.

Have a great weekend.

Will We Have RAINBOWS?

I love this picture and message.

I gave it as a gift for a little girl who was having a rainbow themed party and also framed one for my little girls room.

You can find it here and Making It Lovely Blog.

My thoughts and prayers are going out to those that are in the path of Hurricane Irene. It is barely east of where I live and we're feeling awfully lucky today.

What I Wore Wednesday

I recently went through all of my What I Wore Wednesday posts and boy was it enlightening. One of the things that I love about the idea of posting pictures is being able to see how you look and to go back and review the looks. Pictures are HUGE for me. They tell me so much. I determine how I like a haircut by pictures, I even changed wedding dresses (after the first one was purchased and altered) for a new one after seeing myself in it in a picture. I can really see how I look in things through pictures.

After going through all of my past posts I realized that I had some not so good "looks". I ask myself "why did I post that", HA! I have always been a pretty classic dresser wearing mostly jeans and tops and dresses. I've not ever really been much on skirts and tops, too much to put together, and never have been much on accessories. I think I just tried to get creative with my looks when I started these posts. I started thrifting which has been fun and I have found some great items, but I have also found some not so great items.

Well, after the realization that some of my outfits just didn't hit the mark for me I purged my closet taking it back to the basics, the things that I love and love to wear. Boy did I purge. I had little piles in my closet of things that I was afraid to get rid of because I might wear them again, stuff that I haven't worn in years - work clothes that are out of style and things that I just shouldn't be wearing, and stuff that I should have never brought in in the first place. I tried a lot of things on and tried to create new looks and use them in new ways. If I couldn't figure it out, out they went. I'm so happy with the results and getting ready will be so much easier. I might not have as many things too choose from but I know what is left are things that work for me...in pictures anyways!

Here are a few of my looks for this week
