Summer is unofficially over

Well, now that Labor Day has passed it is the unofficial end of summer. I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the last few days of summer fun.
Here is what we did.....

We went to to the beach on Saturday and were so lucky to find these great treasures. We normally don't find such great shells on the east coast, usually the west coast of Florida delivers them in plenty. We had a ton of fun skimming through the water excited to see what treasure we were pulling up.

On Sunday I enjoyed a little al fresco breakfast, on my newly completed outdoor patio, with my little lady and headed out to one of my favorite restaurants, Season 52, for a little birthday dinner. Anyone that lives in the Orlando area must try this restaurant. I will write more about it in a later post. Then on Monday we capped the weekend with a family cook-out complete with one of my favorite desserts, strawberry shortcake (since I can't have chocolate).

A great family weekend and birthday.

What did you do this weekend? Did you hit any shopping deals?

Have a great start to a short week. I wish all weekends were three day weekends.

It's Friday

It's Labor Day Weekend and It's My Birthday Weekend!

Here is my birthday wish list........

Belt - Ann Taylor Loft

Ribbon detail cardigan - J Crew

Jewelry by Lisa Leonard Designs

It's super small and quite honestly, with not spending much time in stores, I had a hard time coming up with something. The truth is I just don't need much. What I am hopeful for is a gift card to Target or a necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs. I have had my eye on these for a while now. Both would be enjoyed immensely.

I AM going to cheat and have a piece of chocolate cake or some kind of yummy desert. It's only fair on your birthday, right? Not sure what the plans are, it's a surprise. Will be sure to share on Monday.

Have a super weekend.

White Flower Farmhouse

Check out this website WhiteFlowerFarmhouse.com. I saw these images and they are just stunning. I love the fresh, clean, airy feel they give.

The items they sell are equally as nice. The farmhouse inspired decor with a bit of beach-y thrown in. So Fresh! Click on the title above to head to their site.

My favorite flower is a daisy. I love, LOVE this picture.

I think it sums me up to a tee. Shy, not boastful, unassuming, simple, sweet! I hope for those who know me feel the same.

On another note, I need some parental advice.

Parenting is so hard and I'm not sure what I am doing sometimes. My little one is very sweet, shy, demure and super sensitive. She is a kind hearted little girl and I would do anything to protect her. Kindergarten is tough. First we had the little boy who was chasing her around to kiss her. Yes, KISS her! I think the teachers have handled and put the kabash on that one. But today she was told by her best school friend that she wouldn't be her friend anymore. Why would someone do that to my sweet child? Because when my little one was chosen to go to the treasure box to pull a treasure she chose to keep it and not give it to her new best friend. So with the reward of being good in class she gets her feelings hurt. When I picked her up today she was crying. Now my heart is broken. When I asked what was wrong she told me and asked me to talk to the little girl, to smooth things over. Here is where I think I made my mistake. I went over to the little girl, now remember, I am not a toughy, I just wanted to ask the little girl what happened and to ensure that they were still friends. I was with the teacher and softly talked to her. The little girl was scared to death, my daughter was crying, and I was a bundle of nerves. I feel like my talking to her may have further damaged the situation where it might have just blown over had I left it alone. And I'm afraid I am going to get a call from her parents. Truly, I didn't mean to upset the little girl, she is quite shy and just sort of shut down, but I wanted to ease my daughters upset.

What should I have done?

What would you have done?

What do I do tomorrow if things are worse?

Sometimes a little advice is the way to go.

I am heading to the pool. It's still 90 degrees here and I think an afternoon of swimming might just wipe the upset of the day away.
Have a great day.

Way cute VW BUG! and

I love the Volkswagen Beetle, especially the convertible. Today i saw this and fell in love! It is so darn cute! I couldn't get over the big daisy painted on the front. I am much too practical for such a cute car, but if I weren't I would own this!

I bet the owner of this car is one Happy gal!

Ok. I only have five days worth. Thought I was better at getting pictures. My pictures are a bit funny too. I had to stand on a chair in my daughters bathroom for the only full length view that I have in a mirror. Funny. I found it's hard to take a good picture of yourself. Ha!

There you have it. I'm number 50!

Beautiful Entryways

Your entryway is the first impression that someone has of your home. You want to create a warm inviting atmosphere so that people feel welcomed and comfortable. Pay attention to how you decorate it, it should set the tone for the rest of you home.

I found these great pictures for inspiration on homemadesimple.com.

It's a place to put your shoes on, hang a coat, to put your mail down or to just burn a candle. It's the place that says "come on in".

Have a great Wednesday.
