A Lowcountry Sunset

There are few things in life as simple and constant as the setting sun.

Although life is full of unpredictable twists and turns, the one thing you can always count on is that the sun will come up each morning to lead us into a new day, and set in the evening, bringing the darkness of night.

We know it will happen. We know when it will happen. We've seen it a thousand times.

But the splendor of the sunset is that no matter how many times we've seen it, it still has the power to take our breath away.

I live in Florida and have seen a many beautiful sunset but none compare to those in the Lowcountry. One day that will be my back yard. No matter how many times I've seen it, and no matter what I am going through, watching the setting sun helps me remember how precious this life is.

Purse Love

Look at my new purse.

I'm lovin it and can't wait to carry it for fall.

It's the perfect new accessory for fall. I love the shade of green and the contrast of the bright fabric lining. So pretty! It was an early birthday present from my in-laws. They surprised me with it while we were on vacation. How Nice. Thanks Bob and Helen!!!!







The purse was bought at Caroline's Boutique on Hilton Head Island. It's by KGB Studio. I tried to find it on-line but didn't have much luck. Oh well, bummer!

What I Wore Wednesday

Hey There!! It's Wednesday and I am linking up with Lindsay at the Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday. We had family visiting for a long weekend so I have been missing for a few days. We spent our weekend laying on the beach and soaking up a few last rays before heading back to school. We have just over a week to go and I am trying to get as much in as I can.

I only have a few outfits that I am posting this week. I'm feeling a little uninspired with my wardrobe as of late. I have to admit that I'm in an "I just want to be comfortable" mood most days though I am determined to put effort in to my clothes each day. Plus, I think I'm ready for a little cooler weather so I can start wearing jeans again, and putting together some different outfits, though we still have a couple of months of warm weather to go down here.

Weekly Tribute to a White Interior

We are working our way to this look, clean, cool and soothing. We painted our two accent walls in our living room this weekend from green to gray blue. It makes a world of difference, now the wall disappears instead of being the first thing that you notice. I'll post pictures later.

I have realized through this blog, as I have done research, that I have found my true style. I went back through my posts on interiors and everything lends to this look. White, bright, cool and comfortable. We were almost there.

My husband and I started our relationship with entirely different tastes and now we are somewhere in the middle. The biggest difference right now is in our rugs. We bought a really nice one for our great room seven years ago, while I loved it then, I have moved past it but my husband thinks it should stay. It is the only real color in the room. I don't even mention it, it's a compromise.

Here are more rooms that I love. They are casual, cool and coastal.






I think this table scape is so pretty. And the pop of orange from the grapefruit just ads to the picture. This would be easy to do with two pretty dishtowels draped across the table in place of place mats.




I love how the bar cart is repurposed in the bathroom for storage. I would like to have one to use in my dining room. I have seen them at the flea market and hadn't known what to do with them but now I think, after seeing this picture, that I would love to have one.



While I have dark furniture in my bedroom I think the color of these walls would be PERFECT contrast and would be really pretty. I am on the hunt for some puffs/ottomans to recover in this stripe fabric and I would love to have some drapery to match that fabric. This is the perfect inspiration for the look I want for my bedroom. So calming!!!

What I Wore Wednesday

Even though I stay home with my little girl, I want to get up and get dressed each day. Creative ways to organize

Hello Tuesday!
Hello Tropical Storm out in the Atlantic. Please stay out there and not on top of Central Florida. We have company coming this weekend.

How are you today?

I found these pictures on Wild Ruffle Blog and thought that they were not only pretty but so practical.


I love the little tart tins to put jewelry in. I think I will be looking for some of these at the flea market this week. This would look adorable in my bedside drawer. The table and drawer are dark wood so I think I will line the drawer with pretty paper and then put the tins in. Just that touch of vintage that I love.





And this picture, I know it's Martha Stewart but Come ON! How pretty is this. I want to create a space just so I can do this. I used to have a craft closet but made a craft cabinet instead. I think I may have to go back so I can display my ribbons so prettily. I also think the colored buttons in jars would be pretty in a little girls room to bring in color.



In this picture I love the galvanized bins. This look could be used in so many places, a kitchen, kids room, play room, mud room. Endless.

Scenes from the weekend

I had a great weekend. One of those weekends where you don't really do "anything" but do so much. We spent a lot of family time together just doing stuff. My mom was supposed to be here this weekend but ended up not being able to come, so that was a huge bummer. But, it turned out great hanging close to home and spending some quality time together as a family.

We tackled a few home projects, did some crafts, went bike riding, the little lady and her daddy did a tennis lesson together, we had yummy food and for the first time I made cobbler. Yum!
