We had a great weekend full of fun festivities. It was cool here and really cold this morning so it certainly feels holiday-ish and festive.
We enjoyed a fun breakfast where Santa was the guest of honor.
The weather was perfect for the parade. We were one of the last entries in a very long parade. We did a lot of waiting and not moving, once we did start moving the parade lasted only 30 minutes for us. For the spectators it's about a 3 hour parade. We had lots of fun though, the girls were singing carols and the grown ups enjoyed a warm fire pit, right in the middle of the road, while we waited. I was concerned with freezing, but it was just right and we had tons of fun.
We enjoyed picking and bringing home our first real Christmas tree from our local Christmas tree farm. We didn't actually cut down our own tree. The trees that are grown here are not very sturdy. We didn't think they would hold ornaments all that well so we bought a tree that was cut from Michigan and shipped down here. Our thought too was that it was already cut down so it's one less tree that will be lost this Christmas. There are so many things to do here. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows to make s'mores. We took a hay ride to the Christmas tree field. There is a petting zoo, horse riding, reindeer train ride, and a zip line. This tradition is truly a highlight of my holiday festivities.
Here we are "pretending" to cut down our tree.
Here is our sweet tree. We decided in lieu of our new puppy that we would put the tree out on our screened patio. It's Florida, it's supposed to be warm here, right? Well, just in time, it has turned cold so it's hard to go out and enjoy the tree.....
....so now we have decided to try out a tree inside with the dog.
All of this and the Christmas season has only begun. I've also been crazy busy with baking and will share what I've been working on and other projects in another post. When am I going to shop????
Enjoy the pictures and I hope you had a festive weekend as well.
Have a great Monday.
Leslie
